Strategic Buyers
Strategic buyers are the most attractive because they value our client's brand name, technology, and intellectual property. We are usually able to get a better price and terms from strategic buyers and so we make them our highest priority. To obtain a list of potential strategic buyers, we work with our clients to determine which companies they know of in their industry that would find value in our client. Next, we find the executives that are responsible for mergers and acquisitions at their organization and make personal contact with them and send them the Strategic Profile. Once we get strategic buyers we try to narrow the best ones to two or three candidates.
Financial Buyers
Shortly after approaching strategic buyers, we attempt to find financial buyers. Financial buyers are more concerned about current or potential income streams than they are with some of the things strategic buyers like. Financial buyers are generally private equity groups, but also can take other forms. We have personal connections with many of the financial buyers in the industry and we have full databases of financial buyers along with their investment criteria to focus on the financial buyers that know our clients industry and are familiar with working with companies of our client's size. Similar to the Strategic Profile, a Financial Buyer's Profile is sent out to potential buyers with more information that financial buyers like to see. Once we get interest from financial buyers, we try to narrow the best ones to two or three candidates.
